Top tips for keeping your cake fresh

Have you ever wondered how best to store your Eat my Photo cake…..Or what to do to avoid your cake drying out? Here’s a few tips on how to keep the cake delicious and fresh:

Storing the cake the correctly -Your cakes should ideally be kept in their cake box and left at room temperature until the time comes to be served. Store your cake in a cake tin after the cake has been cut, this way your cake should remain in good condition for up to 1 week.

Don’t refrigerate your cake – A fondant covered cake doesn’t need to be refrigerated as this will cause a layer of moisture to form over the icing, resulting in the quality of the print becoming damaged as the icing softens.  It can also lead to the cake becoming dry and crumbly.

How to cut a round cake – Cut a round cake down the middle and remove one long rectangular piece at a time, allowing the two remaining halves to be pushed back together again. This will prevent the cake from drying out as non of the cake will be exposed.

If you are going to wrap your cake in foil or film to share it with others who may not be eating it straight away, be sure to cover all sides and edges and make sure there are no gaps.

Did you know?… the frosting on a cake acts like a film to protect the cake and keep it lovely and moist. Once the cake has been covered it is protected and will stay fresh for up to a week if you follow our other tips mentioned above.

If you follow all of these tips then you will surely have a fresh, delicious cake ready to enjoy for as long as possible.
